Meet Angie

Hi and welcome to Fit For Intimacy!

My name is Angie Tsiatsos Phillips and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Somatic Psychotherapist, working with individuals, couples, and groups.  I am the President and founder of Colorado Couples Clinic, PC and the former Clinical Director of the Center for Relational and Family Wellness (CRFW) at Noeticus Counseling Center and Training Institute in Denver, CO.  I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor and Approved Clinical Supervisor, providing supervision for clinicians seeking hours toward licensure.

I received my Masters in Somatic Counseling Psychology from Naropa University in 2006 and went on to study various relationship models in my post-graduate work due, primarily to the belief that I saw negative relational cycles playing out in my own life, as well as most of the people I knew, and I wanted to understand why.  I delved into many books and theories, worked and learned from many gurus, and one day happened upon an eye-catching book, entitled Emotional Intelligence in Couples Therapy: Advances in neurobiology and the science of intimate relationships, by Brent J. Atkinson, PhD.  This book, along with everything else from Dr. Atkinson that I devoured, became my “relationship bible.”

I began studying under Dr. Atkinson just after my son was born in 2003, and have received the highest training in his unique, neuroscience-based model, the PEX Method (Pragmatic/Experiential) for Improving Relationships.  Beyond my training in Somatic Psychology and the PEX Method, I am also trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gottman Couples Therapy, and a variety of other therapeutic models. I began working at Noeticus in 2011 and then opened Colorado Couples Clinic in the Spring of 2017.

I provide individual and couples counseling and offer Relational Skills groups and classes for clients,  as well as PEX Method training for Mental Health Professionals.  My passion for helping to develop relational skills, using relationships as a practice for transformation, provides reparative experiences that can help to strengthen one’s emotional and relational capacity.  My hope is to provide an integrative approach to psychobiological health that balances psycho-education & experiential practices to literally rewire relational styles and the potential for personal growth.

As a professional member of the American Association for Sexuality Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), I am dedicated to supporting people in their exploration of masculine and feminine polarities and helping deepen the transformative practices of intimacy and sexuality. I also offer support for new mothers and fathers throughout pregnancy, birth, and parenting.

As a Somatic Therapist, Dance Instructor, Certified Massage Therapist, and Personal Trainer, I have had almost two decades of experience at grounding my therapeutic work in the body and consistently bring my clients back to their own internal wisdom and unique internal resources.

I am an instructor of Afro-Caribe Unleashed Dance and incorporate my love of movement & dance, when appropriate and useful, into my work with clients.   I am also a Certified Massage Therapist, which was my original impetus for exploring how the mind, in all of its wonder, shows up in the body.  As a personal trainer and nutritional consultant for years prior to entering into the realm of psychological health, I am adept at integrating fitness and nutritional guidance when clients seek a more comprehensive transformation in their lives.   I espouse a balance between solution-focused work and developing trust, over time, within the therapeutic relationship to allow for an organic rewiring of corrective attachment experiences and core relational behaviors.

If you have questions about my work or wish to contact me, I’d love to hear from you!

For the Love of Your LIfe,
